Feeling Overwhelmed?
Don't you feel like this sometimes? I know I do. My professional schedule is erratic, I don't work out regularly so it's not yet in my system (physically and mentally) and although I don't go out as much anymore, I still have a social life which consists of blog events for Joei & Me and dinners with friends that I already can't keep up with.
What to do when you feel overwhelmed with all of these things?
First, relax. Take a breather then lay out your schedule. I'm not a morning person but I realized that starting the day with a workout is better than doing it at the end of the day. When I wait until after work, I'm usually drained already so I end up pigging out then sleeping. This is true especially for those who have erratic schedules like me.
Second, get a workout buddy or join a workout group. I'm lucky that my boyfriend T is now into fitness also because of our friend Wowie Aguilar. So when they go to the gym, I try to go with them too. And of course, Michelle is always there to give me a push when I need it.
Third, if you don't feel like working out, find a fun activity or sport that will keep you up and about. Last week, I went hiking with a group of friends and it felt like a full body work out with all that walking and climbing!
Fourth, go to a gym that offers different classes aside from the regular workouts. I recently enrolled in a gym that has spinning classes, yoga, Pilates, and kickboxing. So if I don't feel like running, I can just join those.
Fifth, just do it. Believe me, I am the laziest person when it comes to working out. But I realized that the hardest part is starting. Once it's in your system, once it becomes part of your routine, your body and mind will look for it. To be honest, I'm not there yet but that's what I aim to do before our 21K race in May.

Hi Joie.I am glad that you are trying to find time for fitness despite your busy schedule. I also felt the same way when I was just a new runner and was still working in the evenings bbut since I love running that much I learned to discipline myself to wake up early specially if I am preparing for a race.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your first half marathon race this May.Looking forward for your posts and hope to see you on the road.
Sorry if I misspelled your name,Joei. All the best!
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah! Thanks for dropping by :) I need to instill this in my system soon (honestly I haven't yet) as the half marathon is less than a month away!
